*For some reason, when I upload my work it gets crazy saturated. So I desaturated the crap and of it and re-uploaded. It’s still a bit on the over side but I’m done messing around with it for now. Raggum fraggum. Finally (mostly) happy with this image. I reworked it several times and I think it’s time to let it go. I submitted this for this years Expose’ Annual from Ballistic Publishing. Note to self - Not happy with painting a girly picture, just add monster. Actually, make the girl a bit monstery. Much better. In fact I think she’s more of an excuse to put the orc head in there. I had way more fun painting that. I think I’ll stick to my guns with creatures from now on, it’s just what I enjoy… weird as that makes me. I’m moving my family into a new house over the course of the next couple weeks. I’ll have a nice basement dungeon studio all to myself and access to all the equipment I’ve had stored for years now. So I’ll finally be able to draw and paint and sculpt traditionally again. And I also just got my brand new computer. So soon I should have quite a bit more work to share with you.

American Heart Association Heart Ball website

We recently created a website for the American Heart Association’s annual fundraiser the Heart Ball. This year the theme is “An Evening In Wonderland.” It’s finally up now and for the most part I’m really happy with it. There were a few things I don’t think turned out the way that I was hoping for, but I guess that’s always the case. I did most of the illustration, with the help of a talented designer here at Vest named Amber Stanton and some background blending from others.

I have an issue that I’m sure many artists have to deal with, I am often unhappy with my old work. With this Elven Sorceress illustration I rushed to finish it and it has been bugging me ever since. So of course I’m reworking it now. I’m much happier with how the new version is coming along.

Filling in space in the sketchbook. I’m a dyslexic sketcher, if I do one sketch I don’t like and I feel like it’s messing with the next sketches I just skip to another part of the sketchbook. I always come back and fill in later. Right now I’m incredibly busy making illustrations and concepts for 4 separate clients. Who likes sleeping anyway? In the little free time I have I’m trying (pretty unsuccessfully so far) to do plenty of studies of the face in an attempt to develop a shorthand for quickly drawing features. I have a tendency to render the living shit out of every image and I have to turn it off with practice.
