I think I’ll try reworking this fella soon if I ever get to come up for air. I’ve been swamped in freelance work from some pretty big publishers, which is a wonderful problem to have, but it keeps me from updating. I have an issue that I’m sure many artists have to deal with, I am often unhappy with my old work. With this Elven Sorceress illustration I rushed to finish it and it has been bugging me ever since. So of course I’m reworking it now. I’m much happier with how the new version is coming along.

Testing out a slightly different painting style working up from traditional. I used to work like this all the time but I switched to entirely digital once I got a Cintiq. I’ve remembered that I get quite a bit more unexpected detail and happy accidents with traditional. Though I do get a more finished result these days now that I’m more accustomed to digital painting.I also allow myself to have fun. For some reason when I sit in front of the computer I become all business and forget the simple fact that art is fun.Time to move on to the final now. - Damon Westenhofer

Long time no post. Time to get back on the horse. Lots of things have kept me busy over the past month, including a visit to Spectrum Live and meeting some incredibly talented artists and art directors.
